SPECIAL ADDED CONCERTS
On April 29 we'll learn that "Cold Missouri Waters" is just the tip of the
iceberg. With 8 albums, 3 Juno nominations and a Juno award, songwriter
James Keelaghan is one of Canada's best-known exports on the folk circuit.
His most celebrated songs tell the stories of extraordinary events from
history through the eyes of ordinary people. In doing so, they turn epic
tales into deeply moving pieces that strike a personal chord.
JUST ADDED SPECIAL SEASON FINALE CONCERT
The dean of contemporary songwriters, John Gorka, will give a concert to
close the Folkus Project season on Friday, June 2, 2006 at May Memorial
Unitarian Universalist Society. This will be the first time that the
³preeminent male singer/songwriter of the new folk movement² (Rolling Stone)
has played in Syracuse. Because ³Gorka is widely heralded for the
sophisticated intelligence and provocative originality of his songs² (The
Boston Globe) we thought you might like an early heads-up that, yes, Gorka
is coming to Syracuse. After cutting his teeth as the Godfrey Daniels
housing opening act and participating in the New York City songwriting scene
and Jack Hardy's legendary Fast Folk circle, John Gorka has gone on to
national and international acclaim. Please join us for this special season
finale concert -- this one's for you. (Info on how to reserve seats at
Folkus concerts is at the end of this email.)
This is the music we love! This is who we are!
