Folkus Fans!

This Friday, February 1, at 8 o'clock, JOE CROOKSTON performs at May
Memorial.

Joe Crookston was one of the highlights of last year’s Folkus Project
concert series. His show was full of spontaneity, powerful energy,
and a lively sense of humor. But the real miracle of his performance
was his charismatic presence and rapport with the crowd. Due to that
enthusiastic response, he is returning for another show on February
1. An engaging performer, Crookston can be intense one moment and
playful the next. Whether it’s his mesmerizing guitar sound, bubbling
banjo, finely crafted lyrics, or his kinetic connection with his
audience, his music exudes a remarkable intergenerational, universal
and timeless quality. His warm, folksy vocals and skillful
musicianship merge to create a remarkable performance. Crookston says
humbly that he strives to present his music “in the purest, most
distilled way I can. Simplicity and silence have incredible power in
this cluttered-up world.”

VOLUNTEER LEADER NEEDED!
Community Relations and Partnerships

The Folkus Project is looking for a Volunteer Leader to help
establish and maintain relationships with other organizations in the
region that might benefit from or share an interest in Folkus
programming. Folkus is attempting to create cross-programming and
cross-promotion opportunities with arts organizations, schools,
churches, and any other cultural or educational groups that might
wish to partner with Folkus in such efforts. The ideal volunteer will
have an entrepreneurial spirit in identifying such opportunities, and
an ease with contacting such organizations and establishing a
relationship. If you think you might be interested, e-mail
volunteer at folkus.org. Thanks. Volunteering with Folkus is a
rewarding, life-altering experience (plus you get into the concerts
for free!).
