This Friday, November 21, at 8 o'clock, JOHN ROSSBACH AND CHESTNUT
GROVE perform at May Memorial.
A remarkable run of more than twenty years will come to end when the
Folkus Project presents the farewell concert of John Rossbach and
Chestnut Grove. Originally from West Virginia, Rossbach has lived in
Syracuse for twenty-four years, but he's moving back to his Mountain
State roots. This event will celebrate the career of the renowned
Central New York musician who founded the group and has kept it true
to its traditional bluegrass origins.
For more than twenty years, Rossbach has led Chestnut Grove up and
down the Eastern seaboard. During that time, this highly acclaimed
ensemble gained a reputation for its dedication to tradition while
broadening its musical style. From Highland reels and mountain
ballads to old time waltzes and blistering banjo breakdowns, Chestnut
Grove plays the finest in traditional bluegrass and Appalachian
music. This quintet of versatile singers and award winning multi-
instrumentalists always delivers a high-energy show.
This concert coincides with May Memorial's Holiday Craft Show. Anyone
who buys a ticket can come early and attend the Craft Show on Friday
evening for free. The Craft Show closes at 8 o'clock.
